STEVE GRIMMETT'S GRIM REAPER Cancels Puerto Rico Festival Show

STEVE GRIMMETT'S GRIM REAPER has cancelled its appearance at the Festival de Metal Boricua 4, which is scheduled to take place March 22 at Coliseo de Cayey (Raul "Rolo" Colon), Cayey, Puerto Rico. The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:

"You know, sometimes things just don't work out the way that you hoped they would.

"Following recent correspondence with the festival organisers regarding the show in Puerto Rico on 22nd March we have held a band meeting to discuss the situation. We are less than happy about the way the organisation has been handled and particularly unhappy about the lack of information and communication with our band.

"We knew that the festival was in trouble and that all was not well, as we had heard it from several sources. We feel very strongly that we should have been kept informed of any problems or changes in the arrangements for the show and we are very disappointed that we had to find this out from third parties.

"We all consider the organiser to be our friend & brother in metal & we all love what we do but band business is exactly that — business, and it should be conducted in a business like manner. We had asked for information and confirmation with no success, even now with only five weeks to go until the show is scheduled we still do not have any confirmation of arrangements.

"We have not taken this decision lightly, we hate letting anybody down & it is against our religion to pull a show, but, we have lost confidence in this one and we have all agreed that we now have no option but to pull out. This was an incredibly tough decision for us to take, but we will not be travelling to Puerto Rico for the 22nd March.

"We hope that the organisers will be able to understand our reasons for taking this decision and we very much hope that one day we will be in a position to play a GRIM REAPER show in Puerto Rico. We have asked the organisers to keep in touch with us and if arrangements can be made and confirmed well in advance, then maybe we can make it happen."

To all of our friends who are planning to see us in Puerto Rico next month, we are sorry to announce that we have canceled our appearance and WILL NOT be playing the show (if there even is one) after all. There are many reasons for our cancellation, but it all comes down to the fact that this promoter has dropped the ball on us for several years now and has yet to meet even ONE of our deadlines for deposits or travel and lodging confirmation requirements.

We know this person is not trying to scam us; in fact, he is a an acquaintance of James for years now - however, we do believe that he isn't being totally honest with us in regards to his ability to put this show on, and therefore, is scrambling to make arrangements and buying time while trying to do it. Now, some of you may remember that we were scheduled to play Mexico City last year with Sodom, Hirax, Omen, and many others and that show turned out to be a scam; well, this individual, while not the same guy, is the person who hooked us up with the (so-called) promoter of that show, so you can understand why we feel the way we do and must cancel. That experience taught us that we shouldn't wait until we are at the airport to expect travel confirmations!

We are aware there are many of you who've been waiting for Helstar to play Puerto Rico for several years now, so we apologize that we are still unable to make that happen for you and will do our best to come sometime in the near future. For now, we want to thank all of you for your continued support, patience, and inspiration that keeps up going! Without you all, there would be no Helstar!

Puede que compartan el mismo relacionista público para evitar que escriban algo en su myspace como: Fuck you damn spic promoter! Damn you and the banana republic you shit on!

Me da verguenza que aparentemente los business skills básicos de los promotores de aquí que puedan traer algo diferente estén tan poco desarrollados. La comunicación CONSTANTE es vital, y lo que se TIENE que hacer cuando hay una mala noticia que dar es darla lo más rápido posible. Van a tener que irse donde los grandes promotores a servirles café y hacerles mandados en lo que aprenden cómo se hacen las cosas BIEN.

Bueno primero el tipo que organizo esto NO es un productor. Cualquiera puede ser lo presentao suficiente para contactar estas bandas y ofrecerles villas y castillas pero sin el compromiso real de hacer un show de calidad. La mejor evidencia de esto fue el "metal fest" anterior donde trajo las bandas y ni se preocupo por darle promo ni na. Los que se acuerden, las cosas que esas bandas escribieron en internet sobre este fest fueron horribles, hasta una banda dijo que este tipo nos llevo alla a comer comidas gracientas y a fin de cuentas ni pudieron tocar por la mala organizacion. Segundo, aqui si hay promotores serios que no importa las perdidas que han tenido siguen trayendo bandas porque aman esta pendeja (gracias a ustedes que saben quienes son). Otra cosa es que el supuesto "promotor" no tiene excusas ya que varias personas que llevan muchos años en este negocio lo han tratado de aconsejar de como se deben de hacer las cosas pero el tipo con sus extremas infulas de grandeza le importa un carajo y a fin de cuentas miren lo que pasa. Gente aprendan de esto este tipo es un gran EEEEMBUUUSTEEEROOOO (y por mi madre que no puede existir un tipo mas embustero que este) y no solamente vendio sueños sino que tambien se tumbo los $$ de la gente que le compro taquillas. Vamo a ver de su supuesta girita por España, Portugal, Italia, Grecia, etc. que te apuesto que aunque allan confirmao estos guisitos, sus embustes no lo llevaran muy lejos, lamentablemente.

esta brutal, luego de haber leido que Helstar habia cancelado, por myspace pregunte al space de g.r si tenian en pie tocar y me dicen que no sabian de problemas que todo estaba cool. esta semana se me dice (no por parte del space de la banda...) que el show si iba y que se habia cambiado de sitio, y ahora termina en esto...
