The History: On December 1991, Werner Rodriguez decides to find musicians to form a SKA and OI! Music Band. With the help of Mr. Wilmer Laboy the band project take live in the same month. In the first period of the bands life and the selection of the members for the band, the founders started to compose their first original songs plus some covers (adapted to SKA) of bands like The Cure, Decibelios, Korroscada, etc. On July 31, 1992 the band did their first live presentation in the “CICLE OF ISLAND ROCK” produce by the most recognized promoter in the island Melba Miranda. On August 9, 1992 the band did their first demo tape with only seven songs. On October 24, 1992 the band did their second live performance sharing the stage with Skapulario in the “La Nueva Casona” Club, Río Piedras PR. On January 5, 1993 the band started their first recording “1993” that included 13 songs of RUDE LATIN SKA. The first distribution of the recording was made by the INDIE record label Fuera de Orden Rekords and the band themselves. With this first recording the band became the first Puerto Rican SKA band that produced an ORIGINAL Material. On April 2, 1994 the band present their lice act in the Carlos Alomar Auditions, famous Puerto Rican guitar player that worked with musicians like David Bowie, John Lennon, and many others. These auditions were celebrated in Club Metropolis, Santurce Puerto Rico by the production of Melba Miranda. On the same date, late at night the band did a live performance in the First National SKA Festival celebrated in “The Warehouse”, Ponce Puerto Rico. On March 27 the band started their second recording “Moviendo los Pies” and finishing it on May 2 of the same year. Some months later, Chris Acosta from the INDIE SKA record label “Moon SKA NYC” went to one of the practice sessions of the band and offered a distribution deal to the band. On June 1994 the second recording “Moviendo los pies” started to be distributed by the band. At same time a SKA compilation named “We don’t Skare”, produced and distributed by the French label Tripsichord Productions, was out including the song “Prisionero del Viet-Cong”. On November the band did their first gig out of the island. This gig included live presentations on the SKAVOVEE II SKA Festival (November 23 in NYC’s “S.O.B’s Club” & November 25 in New Heavens, Connecticut “Tunn In Club”). In these gig the band share the stage with bands like Scofflaws, The Toasters, Pietasters, Spring Heeled Jack, 32 Tribes, King Chango and more. After return from the gig the band present their live act in one of the most important concerts for the Latin Rock Music in the island named “La Tierra de la Paz”. In the beginning of 1995 the INDIE Record label MOON SKA NYC started to distribute internationally the second record “Moviendo los pies”. Then the song “De Huérfano a Rudo” was included in the MOON SKA NYC compilation CD entitled “100% Latín SKA Vol. 1”. On May the band present their live act in the famous restaurant HARD ROCK CAFÉ located in “El Viejo San Juan”, Puerto Rico. On June 10 the band present their live act in the Rock Festival named RUANOVA celebrated in Ponce City with bands like Skapulario, Los Inconformes, Alarma, La Mancha del Jardín, El Manjar de los Dioses, etc. On November 1995 the band sign a record deal with the record label Angry Pong Taang Records in Illinois to include the song “Playa y SKA” in the international compilation CD “Punker than your Mom”. In the beginning of 1996 the band started to work with the famous Puerto Rican producer Beatriz Rodríguez. On March 10 the band started to record in studio the third production in Yauco, PR. At the same time the band was registered to participate in the Best Unsigned Bands produced by the MUSICIAN fanzine. On April 27 present their live act in the Bud Light Hispanic Rock Festival sharing the stage with Los Enanitos Verdes. Some months later the song “Siempre Igual” appears on the second volume of the Latin SKA compilation CD “100% Latín Ska”. In the summer the band performed the Opening act for the famous Mexican Rock band Las Victimas del Dr Cerebro. After some shows later, in this summer, the guitar player and one of the founders Wilmer Laboy leave the band. On year 1997 the band, not satisfied with the recording “Siempre Iigual” (3rd), make the decision to re-record it in a different studio with Norman Dunn in charge of it. Norman Dunn was a very talented guy in the recording world who worked with bands like Raven, Ánthrax y Agnostic Front. Later in this year the record label Aztlan Records include the new song “No hay Vuelta atras” in the compilation CD for only Latin SKA bands “Puro SkaÑol” Volume 1. With this song included in the “Puro Skañol” VOL 1 the band was in the TOP TEN of one of the most popular Radio Station Programs in Miami, Florida. After the summer the band present their live act in thebeneficiary Tele Marathon for the muscular dystrophy “Tele Maratón MDA” transmitted live by the Puerto Rico’s channel 11. At the same time the NY BIG Movie Screen show the police and thieves BANG!. The song “Pesadilla” was included in the SOUNDTRACK of this movie. At the end of the year, the band ends the third recording “Siempre Igua;”. On 1998 the band included a song called “Cosa de Rude Boy” in the first Latin Rock Compilation for the best Puerto Rico bands named “Coquí Rock”. The compact disc includes the most recognized bands at the moment, was produced by the popular record label BMG LATIN. In the beginning of 1999 the first vocalist leave the band. On December 1999, the band did their first gig to Mexico. On December 11 the band present their live act in the Leandro Valle Stadium sharing the stage with bands like La Vela Puerca from Uruguay, Panteón Rococó from México, Desorden Publico from Venezuela, La Severa Matacera from Colombia and more. After the incredible acceptance of the Mexican audience some of the INDIE labels and distributors searched the band for distribution deals. At the beginning of 2000 the 1994 recording entitled “Moviendo los pies” started to be distributed in Mexico by the Indie label Pepe Lobo Rekords in association with Opción Sonica. In the beginning of 2001 the band reunited after 1 year of inactivity. In this year the return of our first guitar player and one of the founder of the band and the acquisition of some talented members contribute in the start of the New ERA for the band. On October 2002, the band did some live presentations in Mexico, DF sharing the stage with the most recognized Mexican SKA bands like Panteon Rococo, Secta Core and La Tremenda Korte. In the beginning of 2003 the band started the pre-production of the “Detrás de ese Disfraz” recording, and in the summer the band started to record it in the studio finishing it at November of the same year. March 2004 started the band new CD “Detrás de ese Disfraz” promotion doing a mini tour in Mexico and Puerto Rico. On April 2005 the DEMO recording 2005 was out distributing it only to most close fans of the band (free collection demo that contains only six songs recorded, produced, mastered, composed, etc by the band themselves).
